We did this a couple of weeks ago and it was a lovely relaxing day out, and fast crossing time with Speedferries so you don't spend most of the day sitting on a ferry!

We stayed for the night - it made the weekend much more relaxing. La Matelote is the top hotel in Boulogne; expensive but REALLY good food. Remember to book parking as we ended up leaving the car out on the street!
